Bell Moto 3 Helmets, Rebirth Of A Legend

For the past few months, the off-road motorcycle community has been buzzing with excitement. An old legend is going to make a comeback and everyone is curious and excited about it. Although there have been rumors before, the company itself has been pretty secretive about it and kept the development of the revamped Bell Moto 3 helmet under wraps. However, they let the cat out of the bag in April 2016.

Enthusiasts noticed the new Bell Moto 3 helmets on the heads of Roland Sands and Leticia Cline at the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin Texas. And just like that, the rumor was confirmed. Bell is definitely re-launching the Moto 3 once again and there is definitely a market for it. The refurbished vintage helmets sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay and other popular websites.

Looking Back on the Bell Moto 3

Bell introduced a full-face off-road motorcycle helmet in 1971 and named the design the Moto 3. The helmet was the first of its kind and was created specifically for off-road riders. The helmet had snaps to attach a peak visor and an eye-port that was big and wide enough to accommodate large dirt bike goggles. Needless to say, this helmet became very popular, very quickly.

The Bell 3 was the inspiration behind many of the motocross helmets you see today. Many of the features that you may take for granted today were first introduced by the early Moto 3 helmet back in 1971. Even today, these helmets are considered to be iconic and stylish. They have a classic, vintage appeal that draws amateurs as well as professionals.

The New Moto 3

The decision to revamp the Moto 3 was wise. The helmet will appeal to a wide range of people, especially with the new safety features built-in. You can expect a lot from the modern Moto 3 helmet, including:

  • Design and build that’s up to the most modern DOT standards.
  • New, resilient materials that provide increased protection and durability.
  • Familiar design with a 5-snap visor, the wide goggle port, and the recognizable chin bar.
  • Retro style that fits different kinds of tastes and preferences.
