Spotlight: Martijn Kramp and His 2022 Low Rider S FXLRS

This week’s Builder Spotlight takes us to the Netherlands with a build that blends real world riding, serious power, and a parts list selected with intention. Meet Martijn Kramp, 30 years old, building alongside @koenwijgergangs and continuously refining a 2022 Low Rider S that’s made to be ridden.

Builder Profile

Name: Martijn Kramp

Age: 30

Builder Shop: @koenwijgergangs

How It Started

Martijn’s introduction to Harley culture started during a gap year in Australia. While working at a factory in North Sydney, he spent his lunch breaks watching mechanics ride Harleys in and out of the neighboring Northern Beaches dealership. He wasn’t really into motorcycles at the time, but the sound and presence of those bikes sparked something. He became especially drawn to the Night Rods and V-Rods that passed through regularly.

As soon as he returned to the Netherlands, he got his license and bought a Sportster. After riding it for a while, the difference compared to a Softail Low Rider S became obvious. Watching content from brands like Thrashin Supply, Feuling, S&S, HPi, and George Brycestar pushed him toward performance, and he started building alongside @koenwijgergangs.

Together they searched for the right Stage 2 combination. The final setup landed on an S&S air cleaner, a Star Racing 30/30 cam, and a Jekill & Hyde exhaust. The results speak for themselves: 142 horsepower and 215 torque on the dyno.

The Bike

2022 Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider S FXLRS

The build kicked off in 2023 and continues to evolve as details get refined. The Low Rider S remains stock where it matters and upgraded where it counts, creating a balanced custom that doesn’t sacrifice rideability.

Performance Upgrades

The bike runs a Stage 2 30/30 setup by George Brycestar and was tuned by Gert-Jan Laseur. Martijn says his favorite part of the build was working through the Stage 2 with his mechanic. The payoff is always the same: that first start.

A Build Story That Spans Three Countries

Whenever Martijn travels, he hunts down local motorcycle shops and major retailers for parts and gear.

In Australia, he picked up FLO clutch and brake levers at Rollies Speed Shop and later got flagged at Brisbane Airport when security nearly classified them as blunt objects. The supervisor had a laugh and turned out to be a motocross rider.

In the USA, he sourced most of the gold ARP bolt set from Bamco Motorsports during a work trip to Boston, relying on friends to bring them back to Europe.

In Japan, he visited Nine Industries on the outskirts of Tokyo and picked up additional parts to match his Saddlemen x San Diego Customs seat. The crew found it funny that the Netherlands is relaxed about weed, yet strict about exhaust decibel levels.

What It Rides Like

At 6'3", Martijn says the Low Rider S fits him far better than a Sportster ever did. With the Stage 2 power and the ergonomics dialed in, the bike rides in a completely different class.

Martijn, thanks for sharing the build and the stories behind it. If you want your motorcycle featured on Deadbeat Customs, send over your builder info, full parts list, and a few strong photos.
