Timmy DeVos' "Diamondback" '81 Shovelhead - Idle Hands Show 2026

Some bikes start with a plan. Diamondback started with a raffle ticket. Timmy DeVos, out of Colorado, dropped fifty bucks on a set of wheels from Steel City Blacksmithing and won. From there he built an entire '81 Shovelhead around them, and brought it out to the Idle Hands Chopper Show.

Twisted Everything

Josh Boggs at Steel City Blacksmithing (we did a spotlight on him and his divorced XLCH "Alimony") is a blacksmith first, and the wheels have that twisted-steel look all over them. Once they were sitting in the shop, Timmy says everything else on the bike needed to be twisted to match. So it was.

The centerpiece is the twisted section right in the middle of the frame. Timmy says he's never seen it done before and we haven't either. The springer, the sissy bar, the bars, it's all twisted to carry the theme front to back.

The Rattlesnake Seat

Timmy started on the seat in November, and that's where the rattlesnake theme crept in. He made it himself. In his kitchen. The seat is a diamondback pattern with coiled lacing down the edges, and once it was on the bike the name was obvious.

Pegs, Cap and Kickstand

The foot pegs came off eBay for cheap, and the gas cap and kickstand match them. Timmy says he had to have all three matching or it would've looked too full. Small detail. Makes the bike.
