Harley-Davidson Battery Guide: Every Model, 1936–2026

Dead battery? Here's the factory battery for every Harley-Davidson we have parts for, from the 6-volt Knuckleheads and Panheads up through 2026, with the H-D part number and the matching industry size so you can cross it to any brand. Click the battery size to jump to the batteries we stock that fit.

Before you order: check the label on the battery you're replacing. Terminal layout matters as much as size, and plenty of older bikes have been converted or swapped over the years. Not sure? Call us at (978) 710-4913.

AGM vs. Lithium

  • AGM – what Harley puts in from the factory. Sealed, no maintenance, cranks hard in the cold and costs less. The safe pick for most riders.
  • Lithium – a fraction of the weight and holds a charge longer in storage. Lithium batteries crank weaker in real cold, and they need a charger with a lithium mode. Some models need a spacer kit to fit the stock battery box.
  • Vintage bikes – 6-volt Knuckles and Pans need a 6-volt battery unless the bike's been converted to 12 volts. Check before you buy.
  • Keep it charged – nothing kills a battery faster than sitting dead all winter. Hook up a maintainer like a Battery Tender when the bike's parked.
  • Terminals – clean and tighten them when you swap batteries. A loose terminal acts just like a dead battery.
